What the GAA lighting standards mean for your club

Hurling and camogie need more light than Gaelic football. As a rough guide, training sits somewhere around 100 to 200 lux, club football matches call for roughly 250 to 350 lux, and hurling is best lit to around 500 lux because the sliotar travels so fast and so high. County grounds set up for television can run higher again. A larger pitch also means taller columns and more of them, so the light reaches evenly from end to end.
